Amersham
Bright sun and heavy showers marked the
Amersham running day, where in addition to the planned routes, a
steamy RF486 ran the 359 to Aylesbury (with thanks to conductor
Geoff Hudspith, as the driver didn't have a clue where he
was). Peter Larkham's shot at Great Missenden Station
carefully avoids showing the blank front blind.

Route 412 was famous in LT days for having
working DS1 'garaged' on the forecourt of the Royal Oak pub in
Holmbury St Mary, where three of the drivers lived. It
negotiated (as does its successor today) the sunken lanes leading
up towards Leith Hill.

A Country Bus Rally, so here are some Country
Buses. RT3148 in Lincoln Green leads RT604 in National Bus
Company green over the River Mole at Brockham, operating route
429.

Theydon Bois
Passing through Abridge, in service on the
250. Compare with the the 1969 photo here - the White Hart is no longer a hotel
and the garage has been redeveloped.

Unfortunately, RF486 suffered a puncture to a
rear tyre near Abridge, so had to be taken out of service while a
repair was effected. Fortunately, RF503 was available to take
on our passengers.

Repair completed, RF486 operated the 250 to
Romford North Street Garage, where it is seen before becoming a 721
to London Aldgate.
